This season has been one to forget for Schalke in the Bundesliga. The Royal Blues have lurched from one bad result to another, in the process replacing head coach after head coach.
The team from Gelsenkirchen have very little to play for, as they welcome Augsburg to the Veltins Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Schalke are rock bottom of the Bundesliga table, having accrued just ten points from their 27 games in the German top-flight. In fact, the home team has won just one of their Bundesliga matches this season.
Unfortunately, this malaise dates back to last season, as they have now recorded just one win in 43 top-flight games. It is an awful record and it is little surprise they head into this clash on the back of five defeats in their last six league outings.
Unsurprisingly considering their situation, Schalke have also lost five of their last six Bundesliga games at the Veltins Arena.
A bit like Schalke, Augsburg head into the final leg of the Bundesliga campaign with little to play for. However, the visitors will be aiming for a top-half finish after another solid campaign in the German top-flight.
Their recent form has been inconsistent, which has been a theme this season for the visitors, as they have won three and lost two of their last five matches in the Bundesliga.
Their recent Bundesliga outings have not been lacking in goals, as there have been at least two goals scored in seven of their last nine matches in the German top-flight.
Augsburg may have mounted a challenge for a European spot if it were not for woeful recent away form, as they have won just one of the last six league games on their travels, losing the other five matches.
Forebet predicts that Augsburg will end their dreadful recent away form by recording a victory in a relatively low-scoring encounter.
