Real Betis seek bounce-back win over Levante

Real Betis’s recent four-match winning streak in La Liga was brought to an end on the weekend when they suffered a 1-0 defeat away from home at Sevilla but the hosts still remain in the top six of the Spanish top flight.

Friday night’s hosts, Real Betis, had previously registered wins against Villarreal, Getafe, Cadiz and Deportivo Alaves, and they’ll still fancy their chances of bouncing back with a win on home turf at their Estadio Benito Villamarín as they look to consolidate their position in the top six.

However, with 12 points separating Real Betis from 4th placed Sevilla, whom they lost to on the weekend, it’s looking increasingly likely that Real Betis will have to make do with one of the two Europa League places, if they can hold onto 6th place that is.

The hosts have been in pretty solid form at home this season as they’ve lost just one of their last eight matches overall (which was to 2nd placed Barcelona), but five wins in this eight-match sequence should give Real Betis confidence here.

Midfielder Camasara and reserve keeper Martin are both ruled out but neither player has figured in the league this season.

Levante have managed to win just three out of their last 10 matches in the Spanish top flight which have been victories over Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid (both away from home) and a 1-0 win against Valencia at home on the weekend.

Obviously, any team that’s recorded away wins against both Madrid clubs away from home need to be taken seriously.

They’ve also lost just two of their last 11 matches overall in La Liga but too many draws have seen the visitors lose ground on the top six.

Levante now trail their 6th placed hosts by a seven-point margin having drawn five of these last 10 matches, while away from home, Levante have won just two of their last 11 matches on their travels.

Within this 11-match period away from home, Levante have managed to keep just the single clean sheet while failing to score in four of these and their last trip to Real Betis ended in a heavy 3-1 defeat back in September of 2019.

The visitors look set to be without midfield trio Radoja, Campana and Melero along with defender Postigo, all through injury.
