Levante could sneak narrow win over Valencia

Levante return to the more familiar surroundings of their Estadio Ciudad de Valencia for this upcoming local derby clash against Valencia on the back of their recent 1-0 defeat away from home against 5th placed Real Sociedad as the hosts look to climb up in to the top half of La Liga with a win here.

Having lost just twice in their last 10 matches overall in the Spanish top flight, Levante, have produced some stubborn results of late and made themselves hard to beat while also picking up some valuable wins along the way too.

Victories over Eibar, Real Madrid 2-1 away from home and 2-0 away at Atletico Madrid prove that Levante are certainly no pushovers in La Liga and need to be respected, especially at home where they’ve lost just one of their last 12 matches.

Four wins, seven draws and just two defeats at home throughout this campaign underlines how hard they’ve been to break down at their Estadio Ciudad de Valencia and although they’ll continue to miss defenders Campana and Postigo along with Radoja, Melero and Rober, the hosts are a tight knit unit.

Valencia recorded another valuable win in La Liga on the weekend with a 2-1 home win over Villarreal, making it three home wins on the trot but their form at home in this season’s La Liga campaign hasn’t been their major concern.

Rather, Valencia’s poor form and results away from home have held the visitors back in progressing further up the Spanish top flight ladder as the visitors have managed to collect just two wins out of their 13 matches on the road so far this season.

Valencia’s highlights on their travels this term have been restricted to victories at Real Sociedad and Real Valladolid but seven losses within these 13 away matches have prevented Valencia from building any sort of momentum.

This is perhaps no surprise though as the bigger picture shows that Valencia have managed to register just two wins out of their last 24 matches on the road in La Liga, keeping just three clean sheets during this poor period of results.

In addition, Valencia have failed to score in 10 of these last 24 away matches and this could prove to be a factor in the outcome of this clash against Levante where Valencia will be without long-term absentee Piccini in defence while midfielder Cheryshev is rated doubtful.

Forebet predicts a low-scoring draw on Friday and both teams to score.
