Cagliari lost 1-0 at home to Atalanta last time out and now sit third from bottom in the Serie A table.
Torino drew for the fifth consecutive league game when they went up against Genoa on Saturday, with the game ending goalless, and they now sit 2pts and one place above Cagliari.
Cagliari will fancy their chances of getting something out of this game as they haven’t lost against Torino in five matches.
Cagliari have won the last two encounters between the pair, with the other three games all ending in draws. Both teams have scored in each of the last four meetings between the two clubs, so there is a good chance of goals being scored at both ends of the pitch on Friday night.
Cagliari have lost five and drawn one of their last six matches and Torino have drawn all of their last six matches in league and cup, so clearly, wins have been very hard to come by for both teams lately.
Under 2.5 goals have been scored in each of Cagliari’s last five outings and three of Torino’s last four matches have seen both teams score, which points towards a 1-1 draw being a likely outcome on Friday.
The hosts will be without the services of Riccardo Sottil, Marko Rog, Paolo Pancrazio Farago and Zito Luvumbo all of whom are injured. Antonio Sanabria has been in isolation for Torino and could miss Friday’s clash, but the rest of the team have been given a clean bill of health.
Both of these teams are struggling at the wrong end of the table and each look set for a relegation battle this season. Wins have been so hard for both teams to come by of late and with Torino playing out so many draws of late and three of the pair’s last five encounters ending in stalemates, a point apiece appears to be the most likely outcome on Friday.
Cagliari haven’t conceded more than one goal in any of their last four matches and three of Torino’s last four games have ended in score draws. Both teams will be desperate to win this one but might have to settle for a share of the spoils.
