The Bundesliga returns this weekend following a two-week lay-off, with Borussia Dortmund welcoming Wolfsburg to Signal Iduna Park on Sunday.

With 13 games played this season, fourth-place Wolfsburg currently sit two points ahead of fifth-place Dortmund.

Lucien Favre was sacked as BVB head coach following a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Stuttgart, before Dortmund beat Werder Bremen 2-1.

However, Dortmund lost their previous Bundesliga match, with Union Berlin winning 2-1 a fortnight ago.

Despite enjoying 71% possession and racking up 16 shots, Dortmund were unable to prevent the defeat.

On a brighter note, 16-year-old Youssoufa Moukoko netted his first senior goal for the club. The wonderkid looks set to play a big role for the remainder of the campaign. It is worth mentioning that Dortmund have lost each of their previous three Bundesliga games on home soil.

By contrast, Wolfsburg have been excellent on the road in recent times, losing just two of their previous 14 away league outings.

The Wolves have only lost one of their 13 Bundesliga matches this season, with six wins and six draws coming along the way.

Wolfsburg also boast the third-best defensive record in the league (13), behind RB Leipzig (9) and Bayer Leverkusen (12).

Despite pushing Bayern Munich all the way a fortnight ago, Wolfsburg suffered their first defeat of the season against the defending champions.

However, it didn't take them long to return to winning ways. Wolfsburg beat Stuttgart 1-0 just before Christmas, with Josip Brekalo getting on the scoresheet.

Head-to-head: Dortmund have won their last four meetings with Wolfsburg without conceding a single goal in the process.

BVB are also unbeaten in their previous ten games against the Wolves, with Wolfsburg’s last victory in this fixture coming all the way back in 2015.

Team news: Dortmund will be without Marcel Schmelzer and Thorgan Hazard on Sunday, although goal-machine Erling Haaland is expected to return from injury.

As for Wolfsburg, Admir Mehmedi remains a long-term absentee. The Wolves could also be without a number of players due to coronavirus issues.

Wolfsburg have become draw specialists this season, drawing six of their 13 Bundesliga games in 2020/21.

On paper, Dortmund should win this game, especially when you consider their strong record in this fixture in recent years.

But given Wolfsburg’s new-found solidity, the visitors will be confident of holding Dortmund to a draw on Sunday.

Forebet predicts that Dortmund and Wolfsburg will produce a high-scoring draw, with both teams scoring over 1.5 goals.
