Liverpool top the Premier League table following that emphatic 7-0 away win against Crystal palace last time out, so should be full of confidence heading into Sunday’s home game against West Brom.

Sam Allardyce’s first game in charge ended in a 3-0 home defeat to fellow Midlands side Aston Villa and the veteran manager will be demanding a response from his players this weekend.

West Brom have managed to avoid defeat in their last three games against Liverpool, drawing twice and winning once, but the teams are poles apart this season. Liverpool sit 18 positions and 24pts ahead of the Baggies heading into Sunday’s match.

The hosts have won four and drawn two of their last six matches in all competitions, while West Brom have lost four, drawn one and won one of their last six outings in the Premier League.

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in three of the duo’s last five meetings in all competitions and Liverpool have kept two clean sheets in the pair’s last four head-to-heads. The hosts have also kept three clean sheets in their last six outings in league and cup and have scored three or more goals in two of their last four outings in the Premier League.

At least three goals have been scored in three of West Brom’s last five matches and on two of those occasions, the Baggies have conceded three or more goals.

Konstantinos Tsimikas, Diogo Jota, Joe Gomez, Xherdan Shaqiri, James Milner and Virgil van Dijk will all miss out for the hosts through injury, while doubts remain over the fitness of Thiago Alcantara. West Brom have both Jake Livermore and Matheus Pereira out suspended, while Conor Townsend and Kyle Bartley will miss out due to injury. Hal Robson-Kanu and Sam field are rated at 50/50 and could both face late fitness tests.

This game looks set to have goals in it, for Liverpool at least, and the hosts will be expected to win the game with relative ease. Liverpool are scoring goals for fun and look strong at the back, despite all those injuries, while West Brom don’t score enough goals and crumbled at the back last time out against Aston Villa.

Over 2.5 goals are to be expected and Liverpool could well take another step towards reclaiming their title with a comfortable 3-0 victory.
