On Friday night, Welsh champions Connah’s Quay travel to midtable Caernarfon, as the visitors look to improve their position in the Welsh Premier League.
Caernarfon are currently sixth-place in the table after a poor recent run of league form. A 1-1 draw at Haverfordwest County last time out means that Town have failed to win in their previous three outings in the Welsh top-flight.
The result also means that the home team has kept just one clean in their previous 15 league games dating back to last season. They will need to improve defensively to have any chance of finishing in those all-important top three European qualification berths in the top-flight.
However, due to their generous defence, Caernarfon’s games have been value for money when it comes to goals, with at least two goals scored in seven of their previous eight league matches.
A record of just two wins from their last eight league matches at the Oval is a poor one. That record doesn’t look likely to improve against the champions.
Connah’s Quay had been the nearly-men of Welsh football until last season when they were crowned champions, albeit in a curtailed league campaign.
The visitors have made a decent start to the league campaign and currently sit third place in the table, six points behind new league leaders The New Saints, but with a game in hand.
Andy Morrison’s team head into this game having picked up just one point from their previous two league games. To be fair to the Nomads the games were against the leaders and Barry Town who are just three points behind them in the table. Before their recent blip, Connah’s Quay had recorded six straight wins. The visitors will be looking to get back to that sort of form in this clash.
Forebet predicts that the reigning champions will get back to winning ways by recording a victory in a low-scoring encounter.
