The match will be played at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos, Santiago with Chile in seventh place on 1 point and Peru one place below them, also on 1 point.

Chile started their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-1 defeat at Uruguay. Having fallen behind from the penalty spot just before half time, Chile scored the equaliser in the 54th minute of the match and it appeared as though they had done enough to secure a point. However, Uruguay had other ideas and scored the winning goal in the 93rd minute.
Conceding a goal so late in Montevideo came as a huge disappointment for Chile as they got ready to face Colombia at home. Chile fell a goal behind after only 6 minutes but got back into the game impressively before half time by scoring two goals to lead 2-1 at the interval.
For the second match in succession, Chile conceded a late goal and Colombia equalised in the 91st minute to take a point.
Trends show Chile have been struggling to win games recently and they have picked up just one victory in their last 8 games in all competitions. Peru began their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign with a difficult looking fixture away against Paraguay. Having taken the lead in the 52nd minute, Peru could not hold on and conceded two goals. With time running out, Peru did not give up and managed to score the equaliser with only 5 minutes remaining on the clock.
It was a good result for Peru and their second match came at home against Brazil. Peru took an early lead in the game and despite conceding an equaliser in the first half, they retook the lead in the 59th minute. They could not hold onto the lead and Brazil equalised in the 64th minute. With Peru down to 10 men, Brazil scored a third goal. Peru then had a second man sent off and Brazil added a fourth goal.

Team news and Chile will be calling upon the experienced forward Alexis Sánchez to lead their attack. Arturo Vidal, Jean Beausejour, and Claudio Bravo are the other players in the squad with over 100 caps for Chile.
Peru will be without the suspended duo of Carlos Cáceda and Carlos Zambrano. Experienced forward Jefferson Farfán is injured and joins Paolo Guerrero on the treatment table.
