Getafe to grab the points over Granada

Whilst it may not be one of the most glamorous fixtures in this weekend’s La Liga schedule, nevertheless it features two teams who are currently sitting in the top six of the Spanish top flight as 4th placed Getafe play host to 6th placed Granada with a valuable three points at stake for both teams.

Getafe come into this clash fresh off the back of recording an excellent 1-0 home win over Barcelona and the hosts once again hold home advantage at their Coliseum Alfonso Pérez when they entertain Granada, with the hosts looking to make it four wins on the trot.

Victories over Osasuna 1-0, Real Betis 3-0 and the aforementioned 1-0 win against Barcelona have helped lift Getafe up into the top four of La Liga and perhaps just as important, the hosts have kept clean sheets in each of these last three wins also.

Indeed, Getafe have lost just two of their last nine matches at home with five of these games seeing the hosts keep a clean sheet and they’ve also won the previous two meetings at home on the trot against Granada, winning 2-1 and 3-2 respectively.

Onto Granada, and the visitors have also enjoyed a fairly reasonable start to the new La Liga season as they sit in 6th place having lost just one of their five matches of this campaign.

Granada have picked up three wins out of these five matches to date with victories gained over Athletic Bilbao, Deportivo Alaves and Sevilla, the latter being a 1-0 win against the mid-table team.

Although, it’s worth pointing out that all three of Granada’s wins this season have all been achieved on home turf at their Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes.

It’s still early days of course but Granada’s heavy 6-1 defeat away from home at Atletico Madrid along with picking up just a point in their recent 1-1 draw at newly-promoted Cadiz doesn’t seem to bode well for this upcoming clash against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez this Sunday.

In addition, four wins out of their last 18 matches on the road in La Liga isn’t a convincing return for the visitors who have lost their last two visits at Getafe and shipping seven goals in their first two away matches this season could spell trouble for Granada here.
