What on Earth is going on in the Premier League? Aston Villa thrashed reigning champions Liverpool 7-2 on matchday 4.

Just hours prior to that incredible win, Leicester City were shocked 3-0 by West Ham. Their loss came a week after defeating Manchester City 5-2.

The Premier League is certainly seeing parity in the early stages of the campaign. The league is likely to sort itself out, but Aston Villa will aim to keep their form going before the division reverts back to type.

On Sunday, Leicester City will host Aston Villa to finish out the day at the King Power Stadium. Leicester City and Aston Villa met four times last season in all competitions. While Leicester City got the best of the Villains in the league, Dean Smith’s Aston Villa got positive results in the League Cup.

Leicester City went to Villa Park in the league and claimed a 4-1 win last term, winning both halves with two goals in each. The reverse fixture at the King Power Stadium ended in a 4-0 win for the Foxes as they won both halves once more.

Aston Villa did go to the King Power Stadium and grabbed a draw versus the Foxes in the Carabao Cup. The 1-1 draw helped the Villains to later progress to the Carabao Cup final.

Leicester City took three points from six available to start the season. They are –1 in goal difference with four goals scored and five allowed. Aston Villa’s road form has been good. They took three from three available winning 3-0 versus Fulham.

The Villains have played one fewer game than Leicester City. A win against the Foxes and Everton loss could see Aston Villa go to the top of the table depending on results and goal difference elsewhere. It is an exciting time for the Villains.

They did spend a lot of money in each of the last three transfer windows. Aston Villa paid to get better and so far, it has worked.

Brendan Rodgers has several players fighting injuries. Ricardo Pereira is ruled out with a knee injury. Filip Benkovic is also ruled out with a groin issue. Wilfred Ndidi will join the duo on the sidelines with an injury.

The manager will hope to have Caglar Soyuncu, Jonny Evans, Demarai Gray, Dennis Praet, James Maddison, and Daniel Amartey back from their various injuries. All six players are at various stages of return and could play.

Kourtney Hause is the only new injury Smith has at Aston Villa. He should make the team after shaking off a knock.

Aston Villa have been brilliant this season and should keep their form going at Leicester City. The game should see over 2.5 goals scored with both sides finding the back of the net as Aston Villa outscore the Foxes just as they did Liverpool.
