Belgium welcome Iceland to the King Baudouin Stadium on Tuesday, with the hosts sitting three points ahead of the visitors in Nations League Group A2.

The Belgians beat Denmark to cement their place at the top of the group, while third-place Iceland lost to England on Saturday.

Jason Denayer opened the scoring after just nine minutes for Belgium last time out, but Roberto Martinez’s side had to wait until the 76th minute to cap off the win.

Denmark rallied and even edged the possession on Saturday, but Dries Mertens secured the 2-0 win for Belgium with less than 15 minutes remaining.

Still, after racking up five shots on target, it could be argued that Belgium should have killed the game off a lot sooner.

Belgium are currently on an 11-game winning streak after picking up maximum points in their Euro 2021 qualifying campaign.

Martinez’s men finished six points ahead of second-place Russia in Group I, scoring a mammoth 40 goals and conceding just three.

Meanwhile, Iceland’s opening 2020/21 Nations League game ended in high drama. They could only manage 22% possession against England and failed to hit the target.

Raheem Sterling netted a penalty in the 91st minute to hand England the win, but Iceland missed a penalty of their own shortly after and squandered the chance to steal a point.

Iceland played the final 20 minutes against ten man following Kyle Walker’s red card, although Sverrir Ingi Ingason was also sent off late on.

Iceland have now managed just one win in their previous three competitive outings and two in their last six.

A disappointing Euro 2021 qualifying campaign saw Iceland finish third in Group H, behind France and Turkey, missing out on a spot at next summer’s main event.

Head-to-head: Belgium and Iceland have clashed 11 times over the years, with Belgium winning on every occasion.

The two countries faced each other in the previous Nations League, and Belgium claimed a 3-0 win away before winning 2-0 at home.

Team news: Martinez is likely to rotate his squad for this game, with Eden Hazard expected to feature in Belgium’s starting XI after missing out last week.

Iceland will be forced to make at least one change. Sverrir Ingi Ingason’s red card against England means that he will be suspended for this clash.

It’s difficult to ignore Belgium’s blistering form at the moment. Martinez’s men are scoring goals for fun, but they don’t concede many, either.

When you couple Belgium’s perfect Euro 2021 qualifying campaign with their outstanding record against Iceland, all the signs point towards a high-scoring home win here.

Forebet predicts that Belgium will score over 3.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to victory over Iceland on Tuesday.
