The new Mexican Primera Liga campaign is due to start this week. One of the first games of the season is in the early hours of Tuesday morning (GMT), as Atletico San Luis host FC Juarez at the Estadio Alfonso Lastras Ramirez. Both teams struggled last season finishing at the wrong end of the table.
Atletico San Luis finished 15th place in last season’s Apertura, 12 points clear of the one relegation place, which saw Veracruz relegated to the second tier of the Mexican game.
The home side finished the campaign in a poor fashion, winning just two of their last eight league matches. To make matters worse they also failed to win any of their final three league games of the season.
Atletico have won just three of their last 19 home matches in the Mexican top-flight. They also lost their final two home games of last season, including suffering a 3-0 home defeat against Juarez.
Their recent home games in the Mexican top-flight have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five matches on home soil.
Juarez finished last season a position and two points behind the home team in the league. They will hope to do better in the new campaign, as the visitors finished the previous campaign in poor form, winning just one of their previous five matches. They also lost their last two league games of the campaign against Leon and Tigres UNAL.
A leaky defence was the visitor’s main problem towards the end of the campaign, as they conceded at least two goals in three of their previous four Primera Division matches.
Their league matches towards the end of the campaign offered good entertainment value, as eight of their final nine games produced over 2.5 goals.
Forebet predicts that the home side will get their Primera Division campaign off to a winning start in a low-scoring encounter.
