Manchester United will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run to 18 games in all competitions when Southampton visit Old Trafford on Monday.

The Red Devils have been in fine form either side of the lay-off and have now put themselves in contention for a Champions League place.

After drawing 1-1 with Tottenham in their first game back, four straight victories – with an aggregate scoreline of 14-2 – have propelled Man Utd up the Premier League table.

Consecutive 3-0 wins over Sheffield United and Brighton were followed by a 5-2 thrashing of Bournemouth in their previous home game.

In their most recent outing, United beat relegation-strugglers Aston Villa with ease, thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Paul Pogba.

Remarkably, Fernandes now has 13 goal involvements – seven goals and six assists – in ten top-flight appearances for Man Utd, while Greenwood is the first teenager since Wayne Rooney in 2005 to score in three consecutive Premier League games for the club.

But it’s not all about the team’s attacking players. Man Utd have also kept 12 clean sheets in their previous 17 games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Southampton have also been in good form since the resumption. Saints have only lost one of their five games since football returned – winning three and drawing one.

The south coast side saw off Norwich before losing to Arsenal but bounced back with impressive victories over Watford and Manchester City.

Last time out, Southampton were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton. Danny Ings took his total to 19 for the season after netting his fourth goal in five games since the restart.

Head-to-head: Southampton managed to hold Man Utd to a 1-1 draw earlier in the season, but Saints haven’t beaten the Red Devils since 2016.

Man Utd are on an eight-game unbeaten run in this fixture, with four wins and four draws coming since Southampton’s last victory at Old Trafford.

Team news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named the same starting XI for four games in a row, so with no fresh injury worries, Man Utd are likely to remain unchanged.

Southampton will be without Moussa Djenepo, Nathan Tella, Yan Valery, Jannik Vestergaard and Sofiane Boufal through injury.

Saints come into this game on a good run, but Man Utd have been playing some scintillating football recently.

Forebet predicts that Manchester United will extend their unbeaten run and maintain their goalscoring form. The home side are expected to score over 2.5 goals on their way to victory.
