On Wednesday night, West Brom take their Championship promotion bid to Sheffield Wednesday, with the Baggies close to sealing a return to the Premier League.
With just seven league games Sheffield Wednesday still have an outside chance of making the play-off spots in the Championship this season. The Owls are eight points adrift of the top-six, so look unlikely to claim a play-off spot though.
Garry Monk’s team have been inconsistent of late in the second tier, which has hampered their chances of climbing into the top-six.
Last time out they recorded a 2-1 win at Bristol City, the win ended a three-game winless run in the league for the team from Yorkshire.
One of the biggest obstacles to the Owls making the play-offs this season has been their recent home form in the Championship. Monk’s team have won just once in their last eight league games at Hillsborough, losing five home games in the process. A lack of goals has hampered their home record of late, as they have scored just three goals in their last seven matches on home soil.
The visitors are within touching distance of a return to the Premier League. Slaven Bilic’s team are second place in the table, six points clear of third-place Brentford.
The Baggies recent league form has put their chances of automatic promotion in major jeopardy. They have failed to win in their last four league matches. Despite the poor recent form, Bilic’s team will be confident of sealing a spot in the English top-flight.
West Brom’s recent away form in the Championship has been decent. A 1-0 defeat at promotion rivals Brentford in their last away match ended a four-game unbeaten run on their travels.
