Juventus to outduel Genoa in tight Serie A clash
    29/06/20 3058

Juventus are four points ahead of Lazio in the chase for the Scudetto and could move as far as seven points ahead on Tuesday night with a win against Genoa.

The two clubs will meet at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa as the home side seek points to move away from the bottom three. Genoa are just one point above the relegation zone with Lecce hot on their heels.

The Grifone have won just once in their last four matches but are coming off of a big 2-2 come from behind draw versus Brescia at the weekend. The good news for Genoa coach Davide Nicola’s team defeated Juventus at home last term, 2-0.

In spite of the win, Genoa are winless against Juventus in five of their last six meetings. The Grifone do not have an easy time down the stretch with games against relegation rival Udinese and Coppa Italia winners Napoli.

Juventus have won five straight Serie A matches. While Maurizio Sarri’s team have been excellent at the Allianz Arena, they have struggled slightly on the road. All three of Juventus’ losses have come away from home in Serie A.

The big boost they will have this weekend is the lack of crowd that would typically cheer Genoa on to get a result. Playing at home may not have helped Genoa even if the match wasn’t played behind closed doors.

Genoa have posted a 4W-1D-8L record at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. They have lost four of their last six matches at home in Serie A including two straight defeats. It has been a dismal year for Genoa and are now on their third coach.

If the Grifone go down to Serie B, then it shouldn’t be much of a surprise after fighting relegation the last two seasons. Genoa have won three of their last 12 games against Juventus with each of those victories coming at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Sarri has a number of injuries heading into matchday 29. Full-backs Mattia De Sciglio and Alex Sandro, centre-backs Giorgio Chiellini and Merih Demiral, and midfielder Sami Khedira are all listed as injured. None of the players are expected to feature.

Genoa have just two players on the injury list heading into the fixture. Full-back Domenico Criscito is out for the remainder of the season due to a tendon injury while Ivan Radovanovic is also set to miss the game.

Four of the last eight games between the two clubs finished with both sides scoring. Four of the last eight fixtures all ended with over 2.5 goals scored. Tuesday night’s game should continue those trends as Juventus edge Genoa in a tight affair.
