On Friday evening, Vitoria Guimaraes host Moreirense in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, as the home side look to move into the league’s top-four.
The home side are currently seventh place in the table but could move to within four points of the European spots with a victory in this clash.
Ivo Vieira’s team are unbeaten in their last five games in the Portuguese top-flight. However, they have drawn their last two league matches against Sporting CP and last time out Belenenses.
Vitoria Guimaraes have been prolific of late in the Primeira Liga, scoring at least twice in four of their last five league matches.
They have an inconsistent recent record on home soil in the league, winning just two of their last six games at home in the Primeira Liga. A poor recent defensive record on home soil has not helped their chances of landing a top-four spot, as they have conceded at least two goals in three of their last four home outings in the top-flight.
Guimaraes have certainly had the better of recent meetings with the visitors, as they have beaten Moreirense in seven of the last nine games between the pair.
Moreirense are stuck in the middle of the table, six points behind the home side and 12 clear of the relegation zone. It seems that they have very little to play for this season. However, no doubt the visitors will want to finish the campaign on a positive note.
Ricardo Soares’ team has been in decent league form of late. A 1-0 home defeat by Rio Ave last time out ended a seven-game unbeaten run in the Primeira Liga for the visitors. However, Moreirense are still unbeaten in five away games in the top-flight.
Forebet predicts that Vitoria Guimaraes will record a victory to keep their slim hopes of sealing a European place alive.
