Sevilla ushered the La Liga season back from hiatus on matchday 28 with a 2-0 win versus Real Betis in the Gran Derbi.

Now, Julen Lopetegui takes his team up against Levante on matchday 29 with the aim of continuing their excellent form. Sevilla are third in La Liga but unlikely to trouble either Barcelona or Real Madrid in the title fight unless one of the two frontrunners drop points in the coming matchdays.

Levante are in the lower half of the Primera table. They are not far off of the bottom three and desperately need points to move away from the relegation places.

Sevilla have won four straight matches versus Levante outscoring Monday’s host team 15-3. The Spanish clubs have already met twice this season in league and cup matches. Sevilla won 1-0 in La Liga thanks to a second-half goal from Luuk de Jong.

Their Copa del Rey clash ended 3-1 as Lucas Ocampos, Fernando, and Oliver Torres found the back of the net for Sevilla. Oscar Durate bagged a goal for Levante in a losing effort.

Sevilla have the second-best points total away from home this season. They have taken 24 of 42 points possible on their travels posting a +4-goal difference. Los Nervionenses have been guilty of conceding too many away goals with 16 conceded.

Levante may have a poor record against Sevilla in recent seasons but their home form before the Covid-19 break was good. The Frogs collected seven points from their last nine possible at home. The team’s defence has been solid with just 12 goals allowed at the Ciutat Estadio Valencia.

Ocampos continues to shine for Sevilla. The winger scored in his last match versus Levante to power Sevilla to a win. Versus Real Betis on matchday 28, Ocampos found the back of the net for the 11th time this campaign. He has bagged 27% of Sevilla’s scoring.

The Argentine could make a move to the Premier League in the offseason due to Sevilla’s penchant to sell top stars.

Levante leading scorer Roger Marti has scored 11 goals as well. He has tallied 34% of Levante’s goals in 2019-20 and been the difference between the club being in the bottom three and currently safe from the drop.

Monday’s game should see Sevilla continue their dominance against Levante. Los Nervionenses are on pace to finish third and qualify for the Champions League with Lopetegui masterminding some excellent results this term.
