With the Spanish La Liga resuming this weekend, there are plenty of teams with all to play for, two of which are Celta Vigo and Villarreal. The teams meet on the 13th of June at the Abanca-Balaídos with the hosts just one point clear of the relegation zone and the visitors hoping to push for a Europa League place.

Celta Vigo were in decent form prior to the suspension of La Liga due to the outbreak of coronavirus. They are undefeated in their last 5 La Liga games, picking up 9 points from a possible 15 available. During those 5 matches Celta Vigo defeated Sevilla and Leganes at home plus picked up a point at Real Madrid, Granada and Getafe.

They may have achieved only 4 wins in their 25 most recent games in La Liga but Celta Vigo have been difficult to beat at home, remaining undefeated in their last 6 home La Liga matches. In fact, in their 11 most recent matches of all competitions, Celta de Vigo have been undefeated 10 times.

Trends show Celta Vigo have seen under 2.5 goals scored in 10 of their last 12 home La Liga games. They have not been huge scorers themselves on home soil and have failed to score more than 2 goals at home in a single league match this season. However, only twice in their last 10 home games have Celta Vigo conceded more than a single goal.

Villarreal are in the comfort zone of knowing they will not be relegated this season but do have an outside chance of finishing inside the top six. They resume the season hoping to put behind them a disappointing run of results which saw them lose 3 La Liga matches in succession prior to the suspension of football in Spain.

The defeats came at Atletico Madrid, Athletic Club and at home against Leganes. Villarreal have won only one of their last 6 games in all competitions and that came at home against Levante on the 15th of February.

Away form shows Villarreal have had a slump in recent games. They enjoyed a good run between mid-December and the end of January but have since failed to win any of their last 4 away matches in all competitions. In addition to the defeats at Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club, Villarreal have lost at Mirandés in the Copa del Rey and drawn with Real Valladolid in the league.

Team news and Celta Vigo will be without the injured goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez. He is the only player unavailable for the hosts who should be at full strength.

Villarreal on the other hand will travel without three players. Bruno Soriano, Ramiro Funes Mori and Ramiro Guerra are all suffering from injury.

This is a big match, especially for the hosts. There will be no fans inside the stadium which will be a blow for Celta Vigo but they were in better form than Villarreal and have defeated them in each of their last 3 meetings. Celta Vigo could win this game with under 2.5 goals scored.
