The battle for survival in the German Bundesliga.2 is getting tense with the end of the season now in sight. One of the teams involved in the fight for survival is Dynamo Dresden, who host midtable Greuther Furth on Tuesday night.
Dynamo are currently bottom of the second-tier table, although they do have two games in hand on their relegation rivals. It would be dangerous to write-off the home team just yet, as they are only three points behind Karlsruhe who are in the relegation play-off and six behind Nurnberg who occupy the safety of 15th place.
Dresden’s recent form in the league has been mixed. However, a 3-2 win at 17th place Wehen Wiesbaden ended a mini two-game losing run in the Bundesliga.2 for Markus Kauczinski’s team.
Dynamo’s recent home form has not helped their chances of escaping the drop this season, as they have won just two of their last seven league matches on home soil while losing three of their last four home games. Conceding at least two goals in three of their last four matches has not helped their home results.
Greuther Furth are right in the middle of the league table, 11 points from the promotion play-off spot and eight clear of the relegation play-off spot. It would seem the visitors have little to play for this season. However, they will not be able to rest easy until they have mathematically secured their status in the second tier.
A recent poor run of the league that has seen the visitors pick up just one win in their last nine games virtually ended their chances of making it into the promotion spots.
They are however unbeaten in four away games in the league, although their last three matches have finished all square.
Forebet predicts that Dynamo’s survival hopes will receive a blow, with the visitors recording a victory in a low-scoring affair.
