Rukh Brest face a difficult looking challenge this Saturday despite holding home advantage at their Stadyen DASK Brestski as the hosts look to break a three-match sequence without a win in the Vysshaya Liga.
An opening day 1-0 win on the road at Dinamo Minsk got the hosts off to a great start in the domes tic top flight but they’ve since failed to win any of their subsequent three league matches in the Belarus top flight.
Back-to-back defeats to Energetyk-BGU 1-0 at home was followed by a 1-0 loss on the road at BATE, while last time out on the weekend Rukh Brest gained a point in a 0-0 draw away from home at Slavia Mozyr.
This is Rukh Brest’s first campaign in the domestic top flight and they’re expected to struggle this term and this upcoming fixture against FC Minsk may hold further problems for the home side despite this being the first ever meeting between these two sides.
Saturday’s visitors, FC Minsk, made an impressive start to their new Vysshaya Liga campaign as they collected back-to-back wins over Belshina 3-1 away from home which was followed up with a 3-2 home win over local rivals, Dinamo Minsk.
However, FC Minsk have since slipped to two defeats on the trot in the Belarus top flight having suffered defeats to Energetyk-BGU 2-0 away from home and a heavy 3-0 loss on home turf to early strugglers, BATE.
The visitors have lost just 3 of their last 10 matches overall in the Vysshaya Liga with only one of these defeats being incurred away from home, but they’ll no doubt be keen to further improve upon results away from home as they’ve secured just 2 wins out of their last 7 matches on their travels.
With Rukh Brest experiencing their first ever campaign at this level though, FC Minsk will be seeking to turn their recent disappointing results around this Saturday and take advantage of the hosts who may still be trying to find their feet in the Vysshaya Liga.
Last season’s top scorer for FC Minsk, forward Vasyliev along with Khvashchinskiy (2 goals) look the most likely to notch for the visitors and will be looking to cash in here.
