Next up is a local derby between FC Minsk and Dinamo Minsk in this Saturday’s clash at the Stadion FK Minsk with not only bragging rights up for grabs but also an important match for both sides as they look to gain some early momentum in this season’s Vyshhaya Liga.
FC Minsk have already opened their account in the Belarus top flight thanks to a resounding 3-1 win away from home at newcomers, Belshina, to start their campaign off in positive fashion but they face a very different prospect in the shape of local rivals, Dinamo Minsk in this Saturday’s encounter.
Saturday’s hosts finished in a mid-table position of 9th place in the Vyshhaya Liga which was largely thanks to a solid looking home record which included 8 wins and just 3 defeats throughout the whole campaign, but they’ve struggled against Dinamo Minsk in recent exchanges as the hosts have lost 5 of the last 7 meetings against Dinamo.

It should be noted though that 4 of these 5 victories for Dinamo Minsk were recorded on home turf at their Stadyen Traktar, while the last two meetings at FC Minsk have ended in stalemate.
Onto Dinamo Minsk then, and it wasn’t the best of starts for the visitors as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to newcomers, Rukh Brest, which became a third defeat in four matches in the Belarus top flight for Dinamo Minsk.
The visitors finished in a more satisfactory looking 4th place at the end of last season though which was again thanks to a fairly reasonable home record which saw them win 9 of their 15 home matches.
However, Dinamo Minsk will be eager to improve results away from home especially as they’ve now gone 5 matches without a win on the road which includes losing their last two away matches on the trot at Torpedo Zhodino and BATE respectively, but they do have their previous history over FC Minsk to fall back on.
Despite losing last time out at home, Dinamo Minsk hold a good record over FC Minsk and the visitors could bounce back here, but goals could be a scarce commodity in this upcoming local derby as 8 of the last 10 encounters have resulted in under 2.5 goals.
