Liverpool ready to bounce back against Bournemouth

Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from their first Premier League defeat of the season when they welcome relegation strugglers Bournemouth to Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds’ unbeaten run was finally ended when they suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Watford last weekend and it’s fair to say that Jurgen Klopp’s side have been off the pace in recent weeks.

In fact, Liverpool have lost three of their last four games in all competitions. After losing to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, the Reds came from behind to eventually overcome West Ham. However, the defeat to Watford was followed by a 2-0 loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup in midweek.

Still, Liverpool remain 22 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and the visit of Bournemouth provides Klopp’s men with the prefect opportunity to return to winning ways.

Liverpool have claimed five straight victories over the Cherries. The Reds have scored over 2.5 goals in each of their last five meetings with the south coast side and have also kept a clean sheet in every match during that period.

Bournemouth currently find themselves just inside the relegation zone – six points ahead of bottom club Norwich and level with Watford on 27 points.

Following back-to-back victories over relegation rivals Brighton and Aston Villa, Eddie Howe’s side have since taken just one point from a possible nine.

But Howe will take some confidence from the fact that his team pushed Chelsea all the way in their previous game. Despite seeing just 26% of the possession, the Cherries held Chelsea to a 2-2 draw last time out.

Bournemouth need to start picking up points on a consistent basis if they’re to avoid relegation this season, but it’s highly unlikely that Howe’s men will come away from Anfield with anything to show for their efforts.
