The 8th placed Real Sociedad hold home advantage again this Saturday evening in La Liga when they entertain 7th placed Valencia at their Reale Arena where the hosts will be looking to post back-to-back wins in the Spanish top flight.
Although they’ve lost 3 of their last 5 matches overall which include defeats to Villarreal, Real Betis and Leganes, Real Sociedad have won 3 of their last 5 matches on home turf as the hosts have recorded victories over Eibar, Mallorca and Athletic Bilbao.
Having suffered just 1 defeat out of their last 6 matches overall at home, Real Sociedad look to be fairly well placed to add to their points tally here in this Saturday evening clash, and another three points for the home side here could see them move as high as 4th place in La Liga, depending on other results of course.
Results in all competitions have also been promising of late for Real Sociedad as they’ve won 6 of their last 7 matches overall, which also include wins in the Copa del Rey against Espanyol, Osasuna and most impressive of all, a 4-3 win away from home at Real Madrid which was followed by a 1st leg 2-1 home win against Mirandes.
Onto Valencia and the visitors have produced mixed results of late as they’ve recorded back-to-back wins against Barcelona and Celta Vigo, but have also fallen to losses against Mallorca and Getafe.
These recent results shouldn’t be surprising though as the wins were collected on home turf at their Estadio de Mestalla where Valencia still remain unbeaten in La Liga, while the losses were incurred on their travels where Valencia have managed to collect just 3 wins all season.
Having won 7 of their total of 10 wins to date this campaign at home, it’s clear to see where Valencia’s strength lies, and before their trip to Real Sociedad on Saturday, the visitors first have to negotiate a tricky 1st leg tie in the Champions League away at Italian Serie A outfit, Atalanta.
This additional midweek match could hinder Valencia further on their travels, as well as having gained just 1 away win out of their last 5 matches on the road in the Spanish top flight.
Real Sociedad therefore stand a decent chance of grabbing the points here.
