Lazio and Inter meet in top of the Serie A table clash

Sunday night will see a massive top of the table Serie A clash between Lazio and Inter Milan. The home side are just one point off of league leaders Inter Milan and could go top of the table with a win.

Of course, Lazio will need an out of form Juventus to once again drop points versus Brescia to reach the top of the table. The pressure will be on both Lazio and Inter Milan as they play at the Stadio Olimpico over three hours after Juventus play Brescia.

Inter Milan are unbeaten in seven of their last eight matches versus Lazio in all competitions. The Biancocelesti haven’t won at the Stadio Olimpico versus Inter Milan since May 2016. Lazio have not won their last three games against the Nerazzurri at home.

The Nerazzuri are unbeaten in 10 of their last 11 matches in all competitions. Antonio Conte’s team were beaten in midweek by Napoli in the Coppa Italia semifinal first leg, 1-0, however.

Lazio are unbeaten in their last 18 Serie A matches. Their last loss in Serie A was in late September and it came at the hands of Inter Milan 1-0 at the San Siro.

The Biancocelesti have not lost at the Stadio Olimpico this season. They have taken 30 points from 36 possible. Lazio have conceded the fewest home goals with just nine allowed. Meanwhile, Simeone Inzaghi’s team have scored 35 times, the most of any team at home.

Lazio may have the best home points total, but Inter Milan have the top away points total. They have collected 29 of 33 points possible on their travels.

Conte’s team have not lost on the road scoring 25 times and allowing just 10 scores against. Their goals against record is the best away from home in Serie A.

Inter Milan did play in midweek and fatigue could be a factor. Conte is dealing with two injury issues heading into Sunday’s game. Roberto Gagliardini is set to miss out with a foot issue. Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is recovering from a fractured pinky finger. He is listed as possibly playing on Sunday.

Inzaghi has just one injury problem at Lazio. Senad Lulic is to miss the game due to an ankle problem. He isn’t expected back until late March.

Lazio and Inter Milan are both in great form. The best home team versus the best away side in Serie A will go at it at the Stadio Olimpico.
