Wolves will be aiming to put an end to Watford’s revival under Nigel Pearson when the two teams face each other at Vicarage Road on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hornets are unbeaten in their last three league games – winning two and drawing one. This run has seen Watford climb off the bottom of the Premier League table.

A 3-0 thrashing of relegation rivals Aston Villa in the previous round sent out a big statement to the other struggling sides in the division.

Still, Watford have won just three of their 20 league games this season, so Pearson certainly has a big job on his hands in order to steer his side clear of the bottom three.

Watford are currently nineteenth – three points clear of safety and three points ahead of bottom side Norwich City.

By contrast, Wolves are enjoying another impressive campaign which has seen them climb to seventh with just four league defeats to their name in 2019/20.

After sealing a remarkable comeback win over Manchester City, Wolves will feel very hard done by following a narrow defeat to Liverpool last time out.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side produced a spirited display against the league leaders, but the Reds claimed all three points thanks to a single Sadio Mane goal.

Pedro Neto thought he’d rescued a point for Wolves, but the Portuguese striker’s goal was ruled out by VAR following a lengthy review.

Wolves have been very consistent both at home and away this season, while Watford have picked up the majority of their points at Vicarage Road.

However, given the gulf between the two teams at the moment, Wolves rightfully come into this game as favourites.

Wolves’ recent head-to-head record in this fixture also gives them the edge. Nuno’s side have recorded back-to-back victories over Watford, with Wolves scoring over 1.5 goals on both occasions.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Willy Boly remain long-term absentees for Wolves, but the club have no fresh injury worries heading to Watford.

On the other hand, Watford currently have six players on the treatment table, while Adrian Mariappa will miss the game due to suspension.

Wolves look set to continue their winning streak against Watford, and just like their last two meetings, Wolves should score over 1.5 goals.

Forebet predicts that Wolves will be too strong for Watford, so an away way is the most likely outcome here.
