QPR’s encouraging 3-match sequence without a defeat in the Championship came to an abrupt end in a slightly surprising 5-3 loss away from home at bottom club Barnsley last weekend, but QPR return to Loftus Road for this upcoming clash against Charlton where the hosts will be keen to bounce back with a win.

A good point in a 1-1 draw away at Derby County was followed by impressive back-to-back wins against Preston North End 2-0 at home and a 2-0 win away at St Andrews against Birmingham City, so QPR manager, Mark Warburton, will be hoping his side can rekindle that recent form against The Addicks in this clash.

Prior to their win last time out on home turf against Preston North End though, QPR had struggled for results as The R’s had endured a 4-match drought at Loftus Road which included defeats to 4th placed Brentford and 8th placed Nottingham Forest along with points in draws with lowly Reading and Middlesbrough.

Although results at home have been inconsistent, QPR have won the last 4 competitive meetings on the trot at home against Charlton and they’ll be confident they can return to winning ways this Saturday.

Onto Charlton Athletic and the visitors now occupy a bottom half position in the Championship as The Addicks sit in 17th place following a dire 10-match sequence without a win in the second tier.

After making a promising start upon their long-awaited return to the Championship, Charlton’s earlier good work has been undone in a matter of weeks and the pressure is now building upon former player turned manager, Lee Bowyer, to turn things around sooner rather than later.

Having lost 7 of these last 10 matches overall, Charlton’s confidence must be draining out of them, particularly away from home where the visitors have lost 5 of their last 7 matches on their travels with defeats incurred at Wigan Athletic, Bristol City, Millwall, Luton Town and Middlesbrough - the latter two being against teams sitting in the bottom five of the table.

There must be defensive worries on the road for Bowyer as well as his side have managed to keep just 1 clean sheet out of 10 away matches along with conceding 2 goals or more in 7 of these 10 away matches also.

This looks like being a QPR win here.
