Zenit St. Petersburg have become something of a powerhouse of Russian football in recent years. They are current champions and head into a home game with Dynamo Moscow on Friday afternoon six points clear of second-place Krasnodar.
Sergei Semak’s side has built up a good head of steam of late by winning their last four matches in all competitions. Last time out the home side recorded a 1-0 win over Spartak Moscow.
The game with the team from the capital was another tight, low-scoring affair for Zenit in the Premier League, as four of their last five games have now produced under 2.5 goals.
The win over Spartak means that Zenit are unbeaten in seven league outings, having emerged victorious from six of their games.
Despite their recent low-scoring games, giant Russian international forward Artem Dzyuba has enjoyed a solid season in front of goal, scoring ten times in the Russian top-flight.
The champions recent home form has been very strong, as they are unbeaten in 15 league games in the Russian top-flight, having recorded 12 wins. They have also failed to score in just one of their last 20 league matches on home soil.
Dynamo Moscow will head to Zenit in high spirits after a six-game unbeaten run in the Russian top-flight, consisting of four wins and two draws. Last time out in the league they won a Moscow derby, winning 2-1 at Lokomotiv.
The recent good run of form has seen the visitors rise to sixth-place in the league. However, they are still seven points outside the European spots.
After a patchy away run, Dynamo have now won their last three league matches on the road, including seeing off CSKA Moscow in another derby triumph.
Forebet predicts that Zenit will end Dynamo’s recent good run of form and continue their own to extend their lead at the top of the Premier league table.
