Bristol City extended their recent run without defeat in the Championship to 4 matches just before the international break when they grabbed all three points in a 1-0 win away at Cardiff City which consolidated The Robins’ position in the play-off pack.
The west country outfit had earlier posted a 2-1 home win against Charlton Athletic and then picked up points in 2-2 draws with both Wigan Athletic and Barnsley, and the hosts will no doubt be keen to extend their unbeaten stretch to 5 games when they entertain Nottingham Forest at Ashton Gate on Saturday.
With just 1 defeat out of their last 15 matches in the Championship, Lee Johnson’s side certainly look a tough prospect to beat, especially at home where they’ve lost just once in their first 7 matches of this season.
However, although Bristol City have picked up wins against QPR, Reading and Charlton Athletic, they’ve also drawn with Middlesbrough, Swansea City and Wigan Athletic and the possibility of another draw here isn’t out of the question.
Instead, 4 of Bristol City’s 7 home matches have seen both teams score while The Robins have scored in 6 of their 7 home matches to date.
Onto Nottingham Forest, and they also maintained their push for a possible play-off place later in the season by recording back-to-back wins in the Championship just before the break with victories over Luton Town and Derby County.
Although Nottingham Forest also suffered back-to-back defeats to Wigan Athletic and Hull City, the visitors have won 6 of their last 9 matches overall in the second tier and perhaps even more importantly, have lost just once in their 8 away matches so far this term.
Results away from home have usually been something of the achilles heel for Forest in past seasons, but the east midlands outfit look a different prospect under manager Sabri Lamouchi as the visitors have picked up wins at Fulham, Swansea City, Stoke City and Luton Town so far this season.
However, Forest still continue to concede goals on a regular basis and this is certainly evident away from home as 6 of their 8 away matches have also seen both teams score.
With both Bristol City and Nottingham Forest also possessing inconsistent streaks, the goals market looks the best option here with both teams to score.
