On Saturday night, Real Madrid host Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu, as Zinedine Zidane’s team continue their pursuit of Barcelona at the top of La Liga.
The home side is second in La Liga after a 5-0 home hammering of Leganes last time out. However, Los Blancos needed the victory following a 1-0 defeat against Real Mallorca in their previous outing. The team from the Spanish capital are just one point behind bitter rivals Barcelona at the summit of the Spanish top-flight.
The aforementioned loss against Mallorca is Los Blancos’ only league defeat this season. However, they have also drawn three of their games, which is keeping them off the top of the Spanish top-flight table.
Real Madrid have a good home record in La Liga, winning nine of their last 11 outings at the Bernabeu, including their last four matches. They have also been prolific of late on home soil in La Liga, scoring at least twice in their last four league outings on home soil.
Los Blancos cannot afford complacency in this clash though, as last time these two teams met at the Bernabeu Real Betis recorded a 2-0 win.
The visitors would certainly take a similar scoreline on Saturday, as they have not made the brightest start to their campaign. The Andalusians have picked up just 12 points from their opening 11 La Liga matches.
However, things may be looking up for Rubi’s team, as a 2-1 win over Celta Vigo, last time out ended a four-game winless run in La Liga. The victory still leaves Betis just three points above the relegation zone, so they will be desperate to take something from their trip to the capital.
Their recent away record does not suggest that the visitors will pull off a shock win in Madrid, though, as they have lost four of their last five matches on their travels in the Spanish top-flight.
