Ajax have opened up a six-point lead over nearest Eredivisie rival AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands. Now, Erik ten Hag’s team heads to the MAC PARK Stadion to play PEC Zwolle as they aim to continue their unbeaten run.
The reigning Eredivisie champions have not lost this season in the league in 11 tries. Ajax are on a five-match winning streak domestically while PEC Zwolle have won just twice in their last six games.
PEC Zwolle sit 13th in the Eredivisie after 11 matchdays. The Bluefingers have taken 10 points from 33 possible with seven points coming from home fixtures. PEC Zwolle’s last win against Ajax came in 2014 when they won the Dutch Super Cup.

It came just months after they defeated Ajax for the KNVB Cup in a major upset. Since then, Ajax are unbeaten in 10 straight matches against PEC Zwolle. The last eight times the teams have played in the Eredivisie, Ajax have been on the winning side.
Ten Hag goes into the weekend without any injury or suspension issues. He will be buoyed by the team’s fitness with a Champions League match away to Chelsea following next week.
PEC Zwolle manager John Stegeman is sweating on the fitness of three players. Bram van Polen, Mike van Duinen and Etienne Reijnen are recovering from injury and as it stands, none of the three are expected to play.
Twelve of the last 20 meetings between PEC Zwolle and Ajax have ended with over 2.5 goals. Last season’s fixtures saw Ajax win 2-1 at home and 4-1 away. Ajax have seen 12 of their 18 matches this term finish with over 2.5 goals scored.
With the attacking firepower at Ten Hag’s disposal, Ajax should once again play a match with over 2.5 goals scored.
Ajax duo Dusan Tadic and Quincy Promes lead the team with six goals apiece. Tadic and Promes have combined to score 34% of Ajax’s goals while Klaus Jan Huntelaar has added another five.
PEC Zwolle forward Reza Ghoochannejhad leads the team with five goals while attacking midfielder Iliass Bel Hassani has added four strikes. The Bluefingers are coming off of a 3-0 win in the KNVB Cup on Tuesday night. It could inspire their play against Ajax; however, it could leave them fatigued.
Ajax are playing brilliantly in the Eredivisie and will continue their unbeaten run. The Amsterdam club will win away from home with over 2.5 goals going into the back of the net.
