Brentford head into this interesting clash with a reinvigorated Huddersfield Town on the back of a 3-match winning streak as the hosts have picked up wins against Millwall, Swansea City and QPR in 3-2, 3-0 and 3-1 wins respectively.
Thomas Frank’s side finally seem to have rediscovered their mojo after making an indifferent start to this Championship season where The Bees had struggled to string together any sort of meaningful run of results.
This slow start had resulted in Brentford occupying the bottom half of the Championship for the large majority of this season to date, but their recent 3 wins on the trot have lifted the London club up into a more respectable mid-table position in 12th place.
However, results at their Griffin Park continue to remain solid enough despite an opening home loss to Birmingham City as The Bees have embarked upon a subsequent 5-match unbeaten run which includes wins against Derby County and Millwall along with draws with Hull City, Stoke City and Bristol City.
After making a disastrous start to this Championship season having suffered 7 defeats out of their first 8 matches of the new campaign, Huddersfield Town have since staged an impressive recovery under new manager, Danny Cowley and his brother, Nicky, as they replaced the former German boss, Jan Siewart.
The Cowley brothers have certainly sprinkled some of that ‘magic dust’ that they’ve demonstrated at former clubs, Braintree Town and Lincoln City, as they’ve lifted Huddersfield out of the doldrums in the bottom three of the Championship and into a safer 20th place in the second tier.
Huddersfield Town are now unbeaten in their last 6 matches overall with wins collected against Stoke City, Hull City and last weekend’s Yorkshire derby win over Barnsley, along with valuable points picked up against Millwall, Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough.
Under former manager, Siewart, Huddersfield posed barely a threat in attack but with the arrival of Cowley, The Terriers have made themselves hard to beat and have caused opposing defences plenty more problems in the final third, but there’s still a lot of work ahead for the Yorkshire club.
Nevertheless, Huddersfield are now a totally different proposition now and should be respected, either at home or away.
Incidentally, 6 of the last 7 meetings between these two sides have resulted in both teams scoring and this trend looks set to continue at Griffin park this Saturday.
