Shanghai Shenhua have experienced a difficult campaign in the Chinese Super League so far this season. Choi Kang-Hee’s side are currently just above the relegation zone heading into a Tuesday afternoon’s clash with Henan Construction.
The home side are in fact just a point outside the drop zone in the Chinese top-flight. A calamitous recent league run of just one win from their last 13 league outings has not helped their chances of moving away from the relegation zone.
To make matters worse they have also recorded just one win in their last ten matches in the Chinese Super League. The fact Shanghai have conceded at least two goals in five of their last seven league outings on home soil was always going to make it difficult for them to get results.
There has been one positive for the home side of late in the form of Nigerian international Odion Ighalo, as the former Watford striker has scored seven times in his last nine outings in the Chinese top-flight.
Henan’s recent league form has been the definition of inconsistent. However, a recent record of just two wins from their last nine outings is not a great one.
In truth, the visitors from Zhengzhou have been highly inconsistent all season, which has left them in the limbo of 11th place in the league table. They are eight points clear of the relegation zone, but also a massive 23 points outside the Champions League spots.
Henan have struggled for victories on their travels of late in the Super League, having failed to claim a win in their last five away outings in the Chinese top-flight.
However, their recent away matches in the top-flight have been relatively tight, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five league matches.
In reality, neither of these team’s head into this clash in any sort of form. However, Forebet believes that Henan will have the edge and record a victory in a high-scoring clash.
