There is a full fixture list in Major League Soccer this weekend despite the international tournaments which are currently taking place. The MLS does not stop and on Saturday there is a great game to look forward to as New York City FC welcome Philadelphia Union to the Yankee Stadium.
At the time of writing, New York City FC are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. They have 24 points to their name from fourteen games and are by no means out of contention to finish top this season. Philadelphia Union are currently top with 32 points but they have played four games more than their hosts.
New York City FC come into this game having defeated DC United away from home in the US Open Cup last time out. That match was played on the 20th June, so they have had a 10 day break since that win.
Trends show New York City FC have been difficult to beat recently and have remained undefeated in their last twelve games in all competitions. Eleven of those matches have come in the MLS and New York City FC have won five and drawn six.
Home form shows six matches without defeat in the MLS, with two wins and four draws. There has been no distinct pattern in terms of scoring or conceding goals at home. New York City FC saw 7 goals in their previous home game which they won 5-2 but prior to that they had three straight games with under 2.5 goals.
Philadelphia Union were in MLS action in mid-week and they were held to a 1-1 draw at New England Revolution. They were 1-0 down going into the second half and required an 84th minute equaliser to seal a point against the team currently in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.

Trends show Philadelphia Union have lost one of their last five games in all competitions and that came in the US Open Cup. It was an extra-time defeat away to DC United. In the MLS, Philadelphia Union have lost only one of their last eleven matches, winning six.
They are undefeated in their last four away from home and have seen both teams score in each of those four games. There have been two wins and two draws.
Looking ahead to the team news and New York City FC are still without James Sands who has a broken arm. There are also doubts over the fitness of Joseph Scally who has been suffering from a hip injury.
Philadelphia Union travel without the injured duo of Olivier Mbaizo and Warren Creavalle. They could also be without Michee Ngalina and Marco Fabian.
Despite being below their opponents in the table, New York City FC are well placed and in good form. We should see goals in this game and both teams could score but New York City could emerge with maximum points.
