Wednesday night features just the one clash in the MLS but it sees an important clash between Montreal Impact and Western Conference side Seattle Sounders with both teams looking to bounce back from defeats.
Montreal Impact suffered a third defeat in five matches last time out when they lost 3-0 at home to Orlando City which followed previous defeats to Cincinnati and Los Angeles, although both of these losses were handed to the Canadian club away from home.
However, Montreal’s problems haven’t just been restricted to results on the road as the hosts have recorded mixed results at Stade Saputo with recent wins against Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake being offset by defeats to New York City and the aforementioned loss to Orlando City.
One aspect though that has been fairly consistent for Montreal Impact is the lack of goals scored on home turf as 4 of their 6 matches have resulted in under 2.5 goals to date, which includes 3 clean sheets by the hosts.
Despite losing 2-1 away at Dallas on the weekend, Seattle Sounders still remain in 3rd place in the Western Conference but are now a massive 11 points behind the league leaders, Los Angeles, who once again look the team to beat in this Conference.
Seattle Sounders have now suffered back-to-back defeats away from home as this loss at Dallas followed a previous defeat at Sporting Kansas.
The visitors will no doubt be desperate to avoid a third successive defeat on the road this Wednesday night in Montreal.
However, this may be easier said than done for this Seattle outfit who have managed just 1 win on their travels so far this season which was a 4-2 win away at Chicago Fire earlier in the season, but have since slumped to 6 matches without a win on the road.
Neither side then, look to be guaranteed of picking up all three points here, but previous meetings between these two sides suggest that goals could be in short supply here as 5 of the previous 7 encounters have produced under 2.5 goals, and we could see another low-scoring match unfold on Wednesday night.
