If you were to ask any Leicester fan to review this Premier League season, their reply would be “if only we appointed Brendan Rodgers a lot earlier” and to be honest it is a statement that a lot of people would agree with.

Since the Ulsterman swapped Celtic Park for the King Power Stadium, the Foxes have undergone a huge transformation and although there has been nothing delivered in the shape of silverware, there will still be cause for optimism.

That’s because the period in which Brendan Rodgers has been at the Leicester helm has almost acted as an early form of pre-season training and coming in before the off-season, means that he has more time to mould his squad for the following league campaign.

This means that Leicester will not only look to have an advantage on the teams around them, but they will also aim to get out of the blocks quickly and if you get a good start behind you, then anything is possible in this competition.

While the club who knows that more than anyone else are Leicester themselves, you only have to cast your mind back to 2016 and that fairy tale campaign where they ended up being crowned champions of England.

Whether they can repeat that feat in 2020, we will have to wait and see, but before there any hopes of success next season, they also need to conclude this one and that means preparing for the visit of Chelsea on Sunday.

The Blues come into this game with reasons to celebrate and that is due to the fact that they have secured a return to the Champions League and without having to cash in on their insurance policy either.

Due to the indifferent form of the teams around them, Chelsea have quietly gone about their business as of late and moved up into third in the table and now they just have to battle that position out with fellow London outfit Tottenham.

A win would make sure that they finished third in the table and if they do get the better of Leicester, then it will have to be considered a job that is relatively well done, especially when you consider that they have also qualified for the Europa League also.

It may have been a tense affair at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, but by virtue of a penalty shootout and Eden Hazard nestling home the final spot kick, it means that the Europa League final will be an all Premier League affair.

While when it comes to Eden Hazard, this could well be the last the Premier League game that the French international plays in this current stint for Chelsea and if this is the case, he will no doubt be looking for the perfect send off.

With that in mind and even though Leicester have been something of a handful under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers, Chelsea will still be favourites and they will subsequently secure a third place finish with a win on Sunday.
