Arsenal Need Huge Win to Finish in Top Four

The top four in the Premier League has almost been decided although there is a still a chance 4th place could change hands on the final day of the season.

Arsenal, who are currently in 5th place, travel to Burnley on the final day of the season knowing they need a big win and for Tottenham Hotspur to lose their game at home to Everton.

Burnley are aiming to finish as high up the league as possible but the best they can hope for is 14th place.

The Clarets will be happy to have avoided a relegation battle towards the end of the season having started the campaign poorly. They enjoyed a good run between the end of December and February and also picked up three wins in a row at the end of March and beginning of April which made the difference.

Burnley defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City at home plus Bournemouth away. However, trends show they have failed to win any of their last three Premier League games, having picked up a good point at Chelsea before losing at home to Manchester City and away to Everton.

Burnley are undefeated in six of their last nine home league games and two of their last three. They have scored at least one goal in twelve of their last thirteen on home soil, with Manchester City being the only team to keep them out.

Arsenal travel to Turf Moor having defeated Valencia 4-2 on Thursday night in Spain to seal their place in the Europa League final. It was a good performance by the Gunners and they can thank Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette for the goals.

While form in the Europa League has been good, the same cannot be said for the Premier League and trends show Arsenal have failed to win any of their last four league games. There have been defeats at home to Crystal Palace and away to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City.

Arsenal have won only two of their last twelve away Premier League matches with the wins coming at Huddersfield Town and Watford plus have lost three of the last four. Arsenal have kept just one clean sheet in their last seventeen away Premier League games.

The one thing in their favour is their recent record against Burnley which shows nine straight wins in all competitions.

Team news and Burnley are without the injured duo of Steven Defour and Aaron Lennon. Phil Bardsley and Peter Crouch could make an appearance if fit.

Arsenal could make a few changes from the starting XI on Thursday night but Aaron Ramsey, Denis Suarez, Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck will not play any part in the match.

Arsenal need to win by a significant margin if they are to have any chance of moving into the top four. It is not realistic but we could see a very attacking approach from the Gunners and an away win with both teams scoring.
