Walsall to better Plymouth at Home Park

Walsall to better Plymouth at Home Park

On Tuesday night, Plymouth host Walsall at Home Park in League One, as the home side looks to move out of the relegation zone.

Plymouth are only in the relegation zone virtue of an inferior goal difference to 20th Oxford United. An unbeaten run of four league games, including a three-match winning run, has given Argyle hope of escaping the drop zone in the near future.

Last time out in the league, the home side recorded a 2-1 home win over Coventry City. The game saw Argyle score at least twice for the third straight game in Ligue One.

Plymouth’s recent eye for goal has contributed to there being over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight league matches.

Argyle have an inconsistent home record of late in the third tier. However, they have won three of their last five league games on home soil, while suffering just one defeat in the process.

Plymouth recent home matches in Ligue One have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight outings at Home Park.

Walsall are currently mid-table in the League One table and look unlikely to win promotion or suffer relegation. However, the visitors are currently just five points clear of the home side in the League One table, so a defeat here could drag them into the relegation dogfight.

Walsall’s recent league form has been poor, as the visitors 3-0 win at Gillingham last time out ended a six-match winless league run. Their recent league outings have at least been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in their last five outings in League One.

The aforementioned victory at Gillingham also ended a seven-game winless run for the Saddlers in League One away from home. The biggest problem on their travels prior to the trip to the Gills was conceding goals on their travels, as they have conceded at least two goals in five of their last eight away games in the league.

Forebet predicts that Walsall will record a narrow victory in a high scoring game to curtail Plymouth’s escape from the League One drop zone.
