On Monday night, Dortmund host Augsburg at the Signal Iduna Park, as BVB attempt to remain in the Bundesliga top-four.

Dortmund have hit form of late and are currently second-place in the Bundesliga table, prior to Sunday afternoon’s games. The home side are a massive 20 points behind league leaders Bayern Munich, so Peter Stoger’s side’s priority is now a top-four finish.

An unbeaten run of eight games in the Bundesliga has boosted their chances of clinching a Champions League spot this season. During that unbeaten league run, BVB have won five and drawn three of their games, last time out winning 1-0 at Monchengladbach.

Rather unusually for Dortmund, their recent home record in the Bundesliga has been poor. Stoger’s team have won just two of their last eight home games in the German top-flight. However, they have shown signs of their usual formidable home form returning, as the hosts are now four games unbeaten on home soil in the German top-flight.

Augsburg are currently tenth in the Bundesliga table and cannot be completely written off in the race for a top-six finish. The visitors are currently just six points behind sixth-place Schalke. That picture could change though with a number of games taking place on Sunday.

Augsburg’s recent form in the Bundesliga does not bode well for an away win in this fixture. The visitors have won just once in their last five games in the German top-flight, while also suffering three defeats.

Last time out in the league, Manuel Baum’s side suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Stuttgart. The game was in keeping with Augsburg recent league games, as it produced under 2.5 goals. Five of the visitor’s last six games have produced under 2.5 goals.

Augsburg have failed to win in their last four away games in the Bundesliga, suffering three defeats in the process. Therefore it is no surprise that Forebet predicts that in-form BVB will record a victory to consolidate a Champions League spot.
