This will be Eintracht Frankfurt’s sixth season in the Bundesliga following their promotion from the 2.Bundesliga in 2011/12.

Their best finish since then has been the sixth place they achieved in the season following their promotion. Every season other than that has seen Eintracht Frankfurt finish ninth or lower in the table and rarely trouble the European qualifying positions.

However, as they welcome Werder Bremen to the Commerzbank-Arena in the Bundesliga on Friday night, a win will see Eintracht Frankfurt move up to fifth place in the league, which is a Europa League qualifying spot.

Things are not looking as promising for Werder Bremen however and they must win in order to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.

Eintracht Frankfurt come in to this game on a five-match unbeaten run in all competitions.  They have won two games in the Bundesliga, one in the DFB Pokal and drawn two matches, also in the Bundesliga.

The wins have been over Stuttgart and Hannover in the Bundesliga and Schweinfurt in the DFB Pokal.  The draws were at home to Borussia Dortmund and away to Mainz.

Despite their recent run of good form, trends show Eintracht Frankfurt do not enjoy playing at home and they won just two of their previous twelve home Bundesliga matches.  Only one of those matches has been this season, meaning they have taken maximum points once in four attempts in-front of their own fans.

Eintracht Frankfurt are also yet to keep a clean sheet at home in the Bundesliga this season.

Werder Bremen make the trip to Frankfurt on the back of a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Augsburg last weekend.  This was a demoralising result for Werder Bremen, in a match they were hoping to win at least a point.

The defeat means they are still waiting for their first win in the Bundesliga this season after playing ten games, which is a poor record.

Werder Bremen have drawn five and lost five of their ten league games and have scored only 3 goals.  Defensively, prior to last weekend’s result, Werder Bremen had been good but they just cannot score goals.

Trends show they have not scored a goal in their last five Bundesliga matches and have won just one of their last nine league games on the road.

Looking ahead to the team news and Eintracht Frankfurt will be without Alexander Meier, Marco Fabian, Omar Mascarell and Danny da Costa who are all injured.  Kevin-Prince Boateng is rated as doubtful.

Werder Bremen will travel without the injured Jeremy Gondorf but have every other player fit and available.  Striker Max Kruse will be hoping to kick-start his and Werder Bremen’s season with a goal.

However, even if Werder Bremen do manage a rare goal in this match, which they might considering Eintracht Frankfurt’s poor home defensive record, they just do not look like winning a match in the Bundesliga.

A draw is not out of the question, with both teams scoring but Eintracht Frankfurt will believe they can take maximum points and enhance their chances of European football in the process.
