The first leg and the biggest games of the seasons of VfL Bochum and Fortuna Düsseldorf are upon us in the Bundesliga relegation play-offs, and Forebet has taken a deepdive into the trends, data and mathematics of these two campaigns.
There are just two games left to determine who plays in the Bundesliga next season. Most of the time, the analysis, trends and football predictions point towards a victory for the current Bundesliga side. However, it's been a rough season for Bochum.
Ultimately, it is only in this position of 16th and fighting to survive because of an inferior goals difference against Union Berlin, as they both finished with the same amount of points.

This has also seen the club score 42 times, and although this was much higher than that of Union Berlin's tally of 33, by having the second worst goals difference behind the terrible Darmstadt, Bochum ended up in this position.
The inferior goal difference, ironically, was actually capped off in the final two games of the season, despite them defeating Union back in early May in a stunning 4-3 win away in the capital. The final two games saw them let in nine goals across a 5-0 defeat at home to the champions Bayer Leverkusen, as Werder Bremen then went on to beat them 4-1.
In the end, with seven goals the difference in the goals difference column, that eight-goal difference relegated Bochum.
As for Dusseldorf, they are in this fight for promotion after finishing third in 2. Bundesliga. The club managed to score the most goals in the league with 72 across the 34 games, and won 18 games too.
In fact, they only finished behind Holstein Kiel by five points and adrift of the league winners, St. Pauli, by six points.
Towards the end of the season, Dusseldorf put together an excellent unbeaten run and have only suffered a loss to the relentless unbeaten Leverkusen in the past eight weeks.
That DFB-Pokal semi-final saw them lose 4-0, but 2-0 wins over Eintracht Braunschweig and Wehen Wiesbaden shortly after got them right in the mix for promotion to the Bundesliga.
Dusseldorf also defeated FC Magdeburg and Nurnberg, alongside draws with Schalke and Kiel to finish third in May.
Forebet now predicts a draw here and for the game to see over 2.5 goals, leaving everything to play for in the second leg next week.
