Bayern Munich head into Saturday’s showdown on the back of a 3-2 defeat at VfL Bochum, despite racking up 70% possession and 27 shots on the night.
Following a 3-0 loss against Leverkusen and a 1-0 defeat to Lazio in the Champions League, Bayern carry a three-game losing run into Matchday 23.
Despite averaging 2.8 goals per game in the Bundesliga this season, Tuchel’s side have struggled to keep pace with Leverkusen, who remain unbeaten in 2023-24.
Trends suggest that Bayern are on course to miss out on the Bundesliga title for the first time since 2011-12, so they will be desperate for a statement result this weekend.
Meanwhile, RB Leipzig secured a 2-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend, preventing their visitors from registering a single attempt on target.
The Red Bulls have now avoided defeat in each of their last three Bundesliga matches, defeating Union Berlin 2-0 before drawing 2-2 with Augsburg prior to last weekend’s win.
That said, Leipzig have been wildly inconsistent on the road this season, recording four wins, two draws and four losses in their 10 away league outings.
It is also worth noting that both teams have scored in each of Leipzig’s previous seven away outings across all competitions.
Head-to-head: Bayern Munich have failed to win any of their last four meetings with RB Leipzig across all competitions, losing two of the previous three.
The Red Bulls kicked off the campaign with a 3-0 victory over Bayern in the Super Cup before holding the champions to a 2-2 draw in the league back in September.
Team news: The hosts are without numerous key players due to injury and suspension, including Kingsley Coman, Alphonso Davies, Serge Gnabry and Dayot Upamecano.
As for the visitors, they look set to be without German defender Lukas Klostermann on Saturday after he left the field with a muscle injury last time out.
RB Leipzig have enjoyed plenty of success in this fixture in recent times, but Bayern Munich are a wounded animal right now.
Forebet’s predictive analytics model expects Bayern Munich to score over 2.5 goals on their way to securing a statement victory over RB Leipzig.
