Despite the terrible form in Ligue 1 putting Lyon down in a relegation fight, the struggling French giants have managed to make it to the round of 16 in the cup.

This in itself, however, wasn't easy, as the club went 1-0 down to Bergerac Perigord before Malick Fofana and Maxence Caqueret netted a goal each to win the game 2-1 away from home.
A 3-0 win in the round of 64 came before this, as Rayan Cherki scored alongside another finish from captain Alexandre Lacazette and a goal from Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
It was Maitland-Niles’ first goal since signing for Lyon in the summer, as Lacazette is now on 10 in 17 Ligue 1 appearances after his winner against Marseille, and despite the struggles of his side, he continues to rack up the goals, just as he did last season.
The win keeps Lyon in 15th and within just three points of the drop zone. Worse yet, with only 10 more goals scored around Lacazette's tally of 10, the goals difference margin sees Lyon with only a one better goals record than the relegation-sitting Metz in 16th.
Losses to Rennes and Le Havre within the past month mean Lacazette and co. have now lost 11 times in Ligue 1, which also means only Metz have lost more games.
Lyon are sitting with only five wins on the board in the league, with other victories this campaign all coming in December, as Lyon defeated Monaco 1-0 with a finish from Jeffinho after a Lacazette hat-trick stole the show in a 3-0 win over Toulouse before this.
Lacazette was also back amongst the goals in a 1-0 win over Nantes shortly after those two wins, and this lifted them off last place and onto a three-game winning run.
Lille are having an excellent season with the club in fourth and behind second-placed Nice by only four points. This sees the club with just 14 goals let in but with just 28 scored.
Lille are heading into this one after a 4-0 win over Clermont Foot that saw Jonathan David keep up his excellent goalscoring form with two goals.
