Matchday two is upon us in Group B of the AFC Asian Cup as Syria meets with Australia at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium with the group still wide open after a loss for India and a draw between Syria and Uzbekistan.

The dull 0-0 draw for Syria on matchday one with Uzbekistan left us with very little to talk about.

In fact, Syria failed to have a single shot on target throughout the match from their seven total efforts, as they also conceded two shots on target and saw just 32% of the ball.

This has also extended Syria's winless run to three games with a loss to Japan by a 5-0 battering back in November, as they also drew 1-1 with Kyrgyzstan before a 2-2 clash with Malaysia earlier this month.

The country's last win was over North Korea in Group B of the World Cup Qualifiers, as Omar Al Somah netted from the penalty spot.

Another win this past year for Syria has seen them edge past China in a friendly back in September. China had seven shots on target that day, but the one effort from Syria saw Thaer Krouma score in the second half of a 1-0 win.

Australia are sitting top of this Group B matchup, as they managed to ease to a win over India on matchday one.

The Aussies did a solid job in establishing themselves as an early contender for the Asian Cup in that game with 71% of the ball and a total of 28 shots.

Jackson Irvine was the hero that day with a second half goal before Jordan Bos got amongst the goals once again with a finish later on in the game of a 2-0 win.

Alongside the likes of Japan and South Korea, Australia are going to be right up there as one of the favourites.

The nation have now also won all five of their games since a loss in a friendly to England back in early October.

A win over New Zealand shortly after would follow where Irvine netted again for his country alongside a goal from Harry Souttar.

A 7-0 thrashing over Bangladesh in the second round of the World Cup qualifiers came soon after before edging past Palestine 1-0. Australia also defeated Bahrain 2-0 in a warm up game to the Asian Cup.

Forebet now predicts a draw here and under 2.5 goals.
