The Premier League continues this weekend and on the 30th of December we have a meeting between Manchester City and Sheffield United.

The game will be played at the Etihad Stadium and the hosts begin the weekend in 4th place on 37 points while the visitors are bottom of the table on 9 points.

Manchester City come into the match on the back of a good 3-1 win at Everton on Wednesday night.

It was Everton who opened the scoring in the 29th minute and they led 1-0 at the interval.

Into the second half and Manchester City were excellent, dominating the play and having equalised in the 53rd minute, they took the lead from the penalty spot 11 minutes later.

Manchester City sealed maximum points with a third goal 4 minutes from time.

The win at Everton means Manchester City are undefeated in their 6 most recent fixtures in all competitions.

There have been wins over Luton Town away in the Premier League and Red Star Belgrade away in the Champions League.

Manchester City beat Urawa Red Diamonds and Fluminense to win the World Club Cup but were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Crystal Palace prior to their World Club Cup success.

Trends show Manchester City are undefeated in their last 34 home matches in all competitions.

They have won 15 of their 18 most recent home Premier League games.

Sheffield United make the trip to the Etihad Stadium having lost 3-2 at home against Luton Town in a key relegation battle.

Luton Town led 1-0 at half time but Sheffield United came back strongly in the second half to lead 2-1 after 69 minutes.

However, Luton Town were not finished and they scored 2 goals in the space of 4 minutes to seal a late victory.

The defeat to Luton Town means Sheffield United have won only 1 of their 8 most recent matches, all of which have been played in the Premier League.

There have been defeats at home against Bournemouth and Liverpool plus away to Burnley and Chelsea.

The Blades did pick up a point at Brighton and Aston Villa plus defeated Brentford 1-0 at home in the league.

Trends show Sheffield United have failed to win any of their last 10 away Premier League fixtures.

They have lost 8 of those 10 games and have failed to score a goal in 3 of their last 5 on the road.

Team news: Manchester City will be without John Stones due to injury plus there are doubts over the fitness of Rúben Dias, Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, and Jérémy Doku.

Sheffield United have both Gustavo Hamer and Anel Ahmedhodzic suspended. Chris Basham, John Egan, and Tom Davies are injured while on loan James McAtee is ineligible.

Manchester City will see this as the perfect opportunity to build on the win at Everton.

The defending champions have not been at their best in the Premier League this season but should have more than enough to keep Sheffield United out and win the game.
