The Premier League returns this weekend following the international break, with Manchester City hosting Liverpool in Saturday’s late kick-off.

As we head into Matchday 13, table-topping Man City lead second-placed Liverpool by a solitary point, placing extra importance on Saturday’s showdown.

Can Pep Guardiola’s side extend their lead at the summit of the table? Or will Jurgen Klopp’s men spoil the party at the Etihad?

Man City played out a crazy 4-4 draw with Chelsea before the international break, extending their unbeaten streak to six matches across all competitions.

In the Premier League, the Cityzens have taken 10 points from a possible 12 since suffering back-to-back defeats against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal.

Guardiola’s side have been especially strong on home soil in recent times, avoiding defeat in each of their previous 29 games at the Etihad.

Having won each of their last 15 home matches in the Premier League, Man City will be confident of claiming all three points this weekend.

As for Liverpool, they head into Saturday’s clash on the back of a 3-0 victory over Brentford, thanks largely to a brace from Mohamed Salah.

The Reds have avoided defeat in each of their last five Premier League matches, picking up three wins and two draws in the process.

When you look at the bigger picture, Klopp’s side have suffered a solitary defeat in 12 league outings this season, notching eight wins and three draws.

Consequently, no team has suffered fewer Premier League defeats than Liverpool this term, while no side has conceded fewer goals.

Head-to-head: When Man City last faced Liverpool back in April, Guardiola’s men cruised to a comfortable 4-1 victory on home soil.

In fact, the Reds have managed to win just one of their previous seven Premier League meetings with City, although they have played out three draws.

Team news: Man City will be without injured duo Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones this weekend, while Matheus Nunes, Erling Haaland, Nathan Ake and Mateo Kovacic are doubts.

Liverpool’s injury list contains Thiago Alcantara, Andy Robertson, Curtis Jones, and Stefan Bajcetic, while Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Ryan Gravenberch are doubts.

Of course, Man City will be eager to extend their lead over Liverpool, but the Reds will be hopeful of causing an upset on Saturday.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Man City and Liverpool will play out an eventful draw, with both teams scoring over 1.5 goals.
