Qualifying for the 2024 European Championship continues this week and on Thursday the 7th of September, we have a meeting between Serbia and Hungary in Group G.

The game will be played at Stadion Rajko Mitić and the host are currently second in the group on 7 points while the visitors sit top of the group on the same number of points.

Serbia come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw away to Bulgaria in European Championship qualifying.

It was Bulgaria who opened the scoring shortly after half time and Serbia were forced to wait until the 6th minute of added time at the end of the game to score the equaliser.

Although relieved to get a point, Serbia would have been hoping to win the match.

The draw with Bulgaria means Serbia are undefeated in their last 5 fixtures, including friendlies.

They started their European Championship qualifying campaign with a 2-0 home victory over Lithuania and followed that with a 2-0 win at Montenegro. There have been friendly wins over United States and Jordan.

Trends show in their last 9 consecutive matches in European Championship qualification, there have been no losses for Serbia.

In their last 20 games in all competitions, Serbia have been undefeated on 17 occasions and have not lost inside 90 minutes in their 4 most recent home European Championship qualifying matches.

Hungary make the trip to Belgrade having beat Lithuania 2-0 at home in their most recent match in 2024 European Championship qualifying.

Hungary opened the scoring in the 32nd minute and added a second goal 7 minutes from time to take maximum points.

Hungary are undefeated in their last 6 fixtures including friendlies and have lost only 1 of their 10 most recent matches in all competitions.

They started their European Championship qualifying campaign with a good 3-0 home win over Bulgaria but were held to a 0-0 draw in Montenegro in their second group game.

Trends show in their 14 most recent away matches in all competitions, Hungary have been undefeated 12 times.

They are undefeated in each of their last 4 away matches, including excellent wins at England and Germany in the Nations League.

Hungary have managed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last 3 away competitive fixtures.

Team news: Serbia can call upon the Saudi Arabia based duo of Sergej Milinković-Savić and Aleksandar Mitrović. Dušan Vlahović of Juventus will be hoping to start in attack alongside Mitrović.

Hungary have Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai in their ranks and the captain will start in midfield.

The experienced Roland Sallai of Freiburg is expected to play up-front for the visitors.

This is going to be a tight game that could see few good goal scoring chances. Both teams are expected to qualify from this group and there is little to split them on the pitch. This match could finish level, with the possibility of the game ending 0-0.
