Stabaek Likely to Edge Out a Narrow Win Over Stromsgodset

Ninth takes on 10th in the Eliteserien this Monday evening with Strømsgodset heading on the road to meet with Stabæk Fotball at the Nadderud Stadion where only one point keeps the two apart in Norway's top flight.

Stabæk are the ones sitting ahead of Stromsgodset ahead of this weekend's action with the club drawing one more game and losing one less match too. It sees both sides with four victories each after 11 games, although they each have a game in hand over many teams around them, including Odd in eighth.

Stabæk were beaten by Tromso in the last outing after Kasper Hogh scored the opening goal only to get sent off in the final few minutes of a 2-1 defeat.

Prior to this, the club were beaten by Lillestrom in early June before a 2-2 draw with Rosenborg at home - Kaloyan Kostandinov and Mushaga Bakenga both scored a goal that day after just 10 minutes before a late equaliser from Rosenborg.

In recent weeks, Stabaek have also lost to Kjelsas in the Norwegian Cup second round after previously battering Assiden 4-0 in mid-May in the first round.

Stabæk's last win came in a 2-1 victory against Valerenga after Hogh scored once more alongside another finish from Bakenga. However, the club received two red cards that day, as Fredrik Krogstad and Tobias Pachonik both got their marching orders.

As for Strømsgodset, they were beaten in the fourth round of the Norwegian Cup by Molde during the week after defeating the seemingly unstoppable league leaders, Bodo/Glimt, 2-0.

Jonatan Braut Brunes and Tobias Fjeld Gulliksen scored a goal each in the final seconds of both halves, as they inflicted the first defeat of the season for the first-placed side.

Strømsgodset are now sitting in 10th and one point behind the top nine, with them still seven points adrift of Brann in third and also 17 points behind the league leaders, who they just defeated.

Stromsgodet, despite losing to Molde on Wednesday, have managed to win five of their last eight games after also beating Heming and Eik Tonsberg in the Norwegian Cup before a 4-1 victory over Vard away from home. Their only other loss in this period has been to Haugesund on home soil.

Forebet predicts a narrow win for Stabæk and for the game to see over 2.5 goals with both teams right by one another in the league table.
