Osasuna and Girona Cannot be Separated in a Huge Battle for European Football

The final set of games in the La Liga season sees a huge battle between Osasuna and Girona at the El Sadar Stadium with both sides eyeing up a spot in the Europa Conference League as just one point keeps the two apart.

Neither side can finish as high as sixth and get into the Europa League for next year with Osasuna currently sitting in seventh in the Europa Conference League spot and behind Real Betis in sixth by six points. They are, however, above Athletic Bilbao in eighth on the head-to-head record.

Osasuna are also above Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla and Girona by one point and above Mallorca in 12th by three points.

It does now mean that there are six teams fighting for a spot in Europe for next season still, but with Sevilla winning the Europa League on Wednesday, they cannot finish in the Europa Conference League and it will therefore be passed to another team.

For Osasuna, they simply need to just match the results of Bilbao, Vallecano and Sevilla and a draw may be enough here against Girona. The club are heading into this one after beating Bilbao 2-0 last Thursday, although they did lose 2-1 to Getafe last time out.

As for Girona, their one-point gap on Osasuna in seventh comes as a result of losing 14 games this season, drawing 10 and losing 13.

The club have also scored 57 goals this season and conceded 53, meaning only Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have scored more goals than them.

Girona are heading into this game after a four-game winless run since defeating Mallorca 2-1.

They are still in the mix for a spot in Europe because of poor form elsewhere, but they club have gone on to draw with Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad in the past month after also losing to Villarreal. They managed to lose to Real Betis last time out.

These two sides have met twice already this season, with one of those games coming in a 1-1 draw during the World Cup in a club friendly.

Before this in their league meeting, they also drew 1-1 after Kike Barja scored for Osasuna before an equaliser for Girona through David Lopez.

Forebet predicts another draw in this game after previously drawing 1-1 in both games this campaign. Forebet also predicts the match to see under 2.5 goals.
