Le Havre Hanging on Tight to Top Spot in Ligue 2 After a Draw With Bastia

Fourth takes on top in a huge game in Ligue 2 this weekend with just two games left to play in the French second tier as Le Havre looks to stomp their marker down on the title race when they head to Bastia on Friday.

It's been an excellent season for Le Havre who have been top of the table for a number of months and barely let up in the race for the title this season.

They are, however, coming into this one off the back of a 2-0 loss to Valenciennes that has seen the club end its 20-game unbeaten run that stretched all the way back to just before the World Cup.

It was the longest unbeaten run in France’s professional leagues and it has also meant the club have now seen their lead at the top of Ligue 2 cut to just two points.

There were also a bunch of draws in this time with the club having drawn 14 games and won 19 so far in the league.

They have, however, lost just three all season long and Le Havre are set to come into this game with by far the best defensive record of only 18 goals conceded from 36 games.

With 44 goals scored, Le Havre last defeated Rodez in the league and Caen just before that and it does mean just one win in May so far.

As for Bastia, they sit behind Le Havre in the table by 12 points and are now heading into this one having won 17 games after their 6-2 hammering over Pau that saw Frank Magri net a brace alongside a goal each from Lloyd Palun, Ben Santelli and Dom Guidi.

Bastia are also heading into the game with 41 goals let in which is the worst defensive record in the top six right now. They club have also scored only 49 times and sit fourth in the table with a gap of seven points to make up on Metz in third.

It does now mean they are mathematically incapable of finishing any higher than fourth because of this points difference.

Bastia also see Caen just behind them on 58 with a better goals difference, so they will need to avoid a loss here if they want to cling onto fourth spot.

Forebet predicts a draw here and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
