The Women’s Super League action continues on Wednesday as defending champions Chelsea host relegation-threatened Leicester City at Kingsmeadow.

Chelsea occupy second place in the WSL table – four points shy of Manchester United – although Emma Hayes’ side have two games in hand over the league leaders.

At the opposite end of the standings, Leicester find themselves second from bottom – two points clear of Reading. That said, the basement dwellers have a game in hand over the Foxes.

Chelsea head into Wednesday’s clash on the back of a 7-0 thrashing of Everton, with Sam Kerr and Pernille Harder among the scorers on Sunday.

The Blues have now won each of their last three WSL matches to keep pace with Man Utd in the race for the title, having won each of the previous three titles.

Not only have Chelsea won each of their last 13 home league games, but they have also avoided defeat in each of their previous 20.

With just two defeats coming in their last 31 WSL encounters, Chelsea will be confident of making light work of struggling Leicester.

As for Leicester, they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Arsenal last time out, suffering a fourth successive away loss in the process.

The Foxes have now lost 14 of their 19 WSL games this season, picking up four wins and one draw along the way to leave them in danger of relegation.

It is also worth noting that Leicester are the lowest scorers in the division, having netted a measly 13 goals this term.

Given that Leicester have netted 38 goals fewer than Chelsea this season, the visitors will struggle to outscore Hayes’ side, especially at Kingsmeadow.

Head-to-head: It is worth remembering that Chelsea claimed an 8-0 victory over Leicester in the reverse fixture back in December.

To make matters worse for the Foxes, Chelsea have won each of the previous three meetings, scoring a whopping 19 goals while keeping three clean sheets.

Team news: Chelsea’s Sam Kerr has racked up 10 goals and four assists in the WSL this season, while Guro Reiten has bagged six goals and 10 assists.

By contrast, Samantha Tierney and Carrie Jones are the only Leicester players to have scored more than once this term, as both players have two goals to their name.

When you couple the current league standings with Chelsea’s outstanding record against Leicester, all the signs point towards a comfortable home win.

Forebet predicts that Chelsea will notch another high-scoring victory over Leicester, scoring over 3.5 goals in the process.
